Experienced leadership across cybersecurity governance, risk and operations

SecurityTalent's founder is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional with extensive cross-industry experience in information security governance, audit and compliance, infrastructure security, risk assessments, security programs and policies, role-based authorization, incident response, computer forensics, digital and cloud security, attack-path analysis, security tooling, smart tokens and biometric authentication.

His leadership background includes service as Vice President of Global Cybersecurity and Compliance for a global financial organization; Associate Partner in IBM's Global Cybersecurity Services practice; Global Security Program Manager for a major U.S. investment firm; Senior Manager at Deloitte & Touche; Senior Manager of Global Security Risk and Compliance for a global technology organization; Director of Network Security in a worldwide delivery office for a global software company; and Chief Information Security Officer for a Fortune 500 organization.

He has mentored more than 8,000 CISSP candidates and security professionals, including professionals serving organizations such as the U.S. National Security Agency, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Microsoft and Cisco, as well as organizations across financial services, media, utilities, oil and gas, healthcare and other industries. These references describe the professional communities reached through his career and are not presented as organizational endorsements of SecurityTalent.

Our team's expertise

Our team brings experience with ISO/IEC 27001, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, PCI DSS, SOC 1 and SOC 2, identity and access management, threat management, regulatory compliance, security governance and risk management. Team experience spans financial services, media, utilities, oil and gas, healthcare and technology.

Team members hold graduate degrees in network security, information security and cybersecurity, and have earned professional credentials that include CISSP, CRISC, CISA and QSA, along with NIST and ISO 27001 audit leadership experience.

What trust means here

SecurityTalent does not treat every profile or claim as automatically verified. Members control the visibility of their information, and trust signals may be established through confirmed email, professional credentials, workplace evidence, organization-domain control, business records or enhanced review when appropriate. Verification indicates that defined evidence was reviewed; it is not a guarantee of performance, employment suitability or future conduct.

Our editorial standard: certification requirements and change alerts are linked to official issuing bodies, cybersecurity news is attributed to original reporting, and sponsored or member-published material should be clearly identified.

FOUNDER & METHODOLOGY

Built from experience. Designed for the profession.

SecurityTalent combines long-term cybersecurity practice, education and mentorship with a structured, evidence-led approach to professional identity and career development.

2008

SecurityTalent.com was envisioned and founded in 2008. Its features, standards and methodology have been in continuous development and refinement since then.

FOUNDING PERSPECTIVE

Andrew A., CISSP

Andrew founded SecurityTalent to help cybersecurity professionals represent the depth of their work more clearly than a traditional résumé or keyword list allows.

30+years in information and cybersecurity
2001CISSP since
8,000+CISSPs and security professionals mentored
2008SecurityTalent envisioned and founded

Andrew brings more than 30 years of information and cybersecurity experience across security strategy, identity and access management, threat management, incident response, digital forensics, risk, compliance and infrastructure protection. He has held the CISSP credential since 2001.

He holds a Master of Science in Network Security, has taught information security at university level, contributed to the development of official CISSP examinations and related methodologies, and taught official ISC2 CISSP CBK seminars worldwide. His work has supported global enterprises, financial institutions, government agencies and military organisations.

That experience informs the platform, but SecurityTalent is not built around one individual. Its value comes from transparent methods, member-controlled information, verified sources and the collective credibility of the cybersecurity community.

SECURITYTALENT

The SecurityTalent methodology

The platform is designed around six principles that apply consistently to profiles, career planning, certification intelligence and verification.

01

Structure over keywords

Skills are organised by cybersecurity domain, context, experience and recency so capability can be understood—not merely searched.

02

Evidence over unsupported claims

Credentials, work examples, tools and supporting evidence help members show how a skill was developed and applied.

03

Direction, not only documentation

Career Pathways turns a current profile into practical next steps toward a role, specialisation or certification goal.

04

Current knowledge matters

Certification Change Watch and reviewed career intelligence help professionals respond to changing requirements and deadlines.

05

Human judgement remains essential

Automation can organise and suggest, but trust-sensitive verification and editorial decisions require accountable human review.

06

Members retain control

Members decide what is public, what remains private and which alerts or opportunities they choose to receive.

Experience that shaped the platform

Security practice

Strategy, governance, identity, threat management, incident response, forensics, infrastructure security, privacy and regulatory compliance.

Education and certification

University-level teaching, professional certification instruction and communication of complex security concepts to varied audiences.

Mentorship at scale

Guidance for more than 8,000 CISSPs and security professionals across career stages, industries and regions.

What the methodology means in practice

For cybersecurity professionals

  • A profile organised around real security work
  • Private career planning and skills-gap guidance
  • Verified certification intelligence and deadlines
  • Control over visibility, alerts and participation

For organisations

  • More structured signals than keyword matching alone
  • Clear separation between self-described and reviewed information
  • Security-specific talent context
  • Trust processes that are documented and accountable

A long-term project, not a short-term launch

Since 2008, SecurityTalent has evolved around the same central problem: cybersecurity capability is multidimensional, yet traditional career systems flatten it into titles and keywords. The platform continues to develop as the profession, certifications and employer needs change.

Founder-informed, community-centred

Andrew’s experience provides the original perspective and standards. SecurityTalent’s future, however, depends on diverse professionals, organisations, educators and practitioners contributing credible information and using the platform responsibly.
