Trust & verification
How SecurityTalent Verification Works
Trust is earned through clear standards and human judgment. SecurityTalent manually reviews verification requests to help members understand who is behind a professional or organization profile.
What we are protecting
Verification is designed to reduce impersonation and material misrepresentation while respecting the privacy of legitimate cybersecurity professionals and organizations.
Authentic identity
We look for reasonable evidence that the person or organization represented by the profile exists.
Accurate representation
Important claims, affiliations and public-facing details must be consistent with the evidence available to our reviewers.
Accountability
A verified profile remains subject to community rules, renewed review and removal of verification when information becomes misleading.
What our team reviews
The evidence depends on whether the request concerns an individual member or an organization.
Member verification
For professionals, we review enough information to establish identity and professional consistency without turning verification into an invasive background check.
- Profile name and professional identity
- Professional email or another reliable contact method
- Work history, role and organization affiliation when claimed
- Credential or certification evidence when a verified credential is requested
- Consistent professional links, portfolio or public records when available
Organization verification
For employers, recruiters, security vendors, training providers and community partners, we confirm the organization and the requester’s authority to represent it.
- Legal or established operating name
- Official website and organization-controlled email domain
- Business, nonprofit or public registration when relevant
- Requester’s role or authority to manage the organization profile
- Consistency among the website, profile, contact details and public records
A manual, four-step review
No badge is issued solely because a form was submitted. A SecurityTalent reviewer evaluates the complete request and its context.
Submit a complete profile
Complete the relevant profile fields and send the requested evidence. Missing information is the most common cause of delay.
Human review
A reviewer checks identity, professional or organizational consistency, evidence quality and signs of impersonation or manipulation.
Corroborate or follow up
We compare reliable sources and may request a clearer document, a domain-based response or another limited proof.
Decision and badge
We approve, request corrections or decline the request. Approved profiles receive the relevant visible verification status.
Please allow up to 24 hours
A complete request may take up to 24 hours to verify because every decision is reviewed manually. Reviews can be completed sooner, but timing depends on evidence quality, reviewer volume and whether follow-up is required.
If we request additional information, the review continues after you respond. Do not send highly sensitive records unless a reviewer specifically asks for an appropriate, limited document.
What a verification badge means—and what it does not
It means
- SecurityTalent reviewed the profile under the process described here
- The evidence reasonably supported the identity or organization at the time of review
- The profile is accountable to ongoing platform rules
It does not mean
- An endorsement, employment recommendation or guarantee of skill
- A criminal, financial, clearance or comprehensive background check
- A promise that every statement or future action will always be accurate
Privacy and evidence handling
We ask for the minimum evidence reasonably needed for the type of verification requested. Evidence is used for review, access is limited to authorized personnel, and it is not displayed publicly unless you separately choose to publish the underlying profile information. You may cover unrelated sensitive details before submitting a document.
Keeping verification trustworthy
We may re-review, suspend or remove verification when a profile materially changes, evidence expires, an organization relationship ends, credible concerns are reported or platform rules are violated. Members can correct their profile and request another review. Suspected impersonation or misuse should be reported through our contact page.
Common questions
Is every account automatically verified?
No. Registration and verification are separate. A badge appears only after the applicable manual review is completed.
Why is the process manual?
Professional identities and organizations do not fit one automated pattern. Human review helps us consider context, spot manipulation and avoid unfairly rejecting legitimate profiles.
Can a declined request be reviewed again?
Yes. Correct the profile, provide the requested evidence and submit a new request or contact the SecurityTalent team for guidance.
Can verification be removed?
Yes. Verification can be removed when the supporting facts change, the badge is misused or the account no longer meets SecurityTalent standards.
Ready for review?
Make sure your profile is complete and accurate before requesting verification. Organization representatives can contact our team if their authority or domain needs a different form of confirmation.
