Job description

This vacancy is for a Supervisory Computer Engineer (Cybersecurity) in the Office of Information and Communications Technology and Services (OICTS), Office of the Under Secretary (OUS), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) within the Department of Commerce. As a Supervisory Computer Engineer (Cybersecurity), you will perform the following duties: Serve as a technical expert on computer engineering and cybersecurity issues involving telecommunications, networking, software, information security, encryption, satellite communications, and internet-connected devices. Oversee or lead studies of telecommunications, computer engineering, information security, cybersecurity, and related technical data to evaluate technology vulnerabilities and identify mitigation techniques and strategies. Prepare or review technical analysis papers and reports evaluating the strategic applications of technologies and services. Independently develop and formulate regulatory policy and evaluate trade matters involving imports, exports, and technical policy disputes. Develop, revise, and write technical portions of agency guidelines affecting industry and other government agencies.
