You will serve as a SUPERVISORY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the Command Operations Department and Information Systems Division of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. The duty location of this position is San Diego, California.
You will develop and implement the cybersecurity strategy to meet the mission needs of the Command and provides leadership, knowledge and guidance to execute the strategy to ensure compliance with US Navy requirements.
You will be responsible for managing relevant security (e.g. information security) implications within the organization, specific program, and/or other areas of responsibility related to this IT position.
You will function as senior-level executive, who will establish and maintain the enterprises vision, strategy, and program to ensure information assets are protected.
You will direct staff members identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining security processes across the organization.
You will ensure security improvement actions are evaluated, validated, and implemented as required.
You will ensure that cybersecurity inspections, tests, and reviews are coordinated for the network environment in addition to ensuring that cybersecurity requirements are integrated into the continuity planning for that system and/or organization(s).
You will advise other IT experts on a variety of situations/issues that involve applying or adapting new theories, concepts, principles, standards, methods, or practices, that are developed by the employee or results from the employee’s leadership.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-13) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, specialized experience also must demonstrate the following: 1) Functioning as a cyber-security expert on computer networking concepts and protocols, network security methodologies, cyber threats and vulnerabilities; 2) Developing cyber-security policies, programs, and plans to accomplish IT program initiatives; 3) Applying current industry methods for evaluating, implementing and disseminating information technology security assessment for an organization; 4) Employing job-related experience and understanding of information security program management and project management principles and techniques to support agency mission and IT program goals and objectives; and 5) Utilizing cyber-security principles to manage risks related to the use, processing, storage and transmission of information or data.
